Preservative postharvest solutions in two varieties of tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) native to Mexico: ‘Mexicano’ and ‘Perla’

نویسندگان

چکیده

ntroduction: ‘Perla’ and ‘Mexicano’ are varieties of tuberose grown in Mexico that have potential for commercialization export; however, no preservative solutions been evaluated to increase their shelf life. Objective: To determine physical, physiological, chemical changes occur postharvest when different applied. Methodology: Tuberose flower spikes Perla, with two open basal flowers, were placed (Crystal®, sucrose [Sac] + citric acid [CA] hydroxyquinoline citrate [HQC] ascorbic [AAsc]). A group was kept as control, all cases destructive non-destructive variables during postharvest. Results: Relative fresh weight water consumption increased both varieties. The appearance the variety excellent 5 days Crystal®. had more flowers Crystal® Sac AC HQC, while same result AAsc Respiration Mexicano’ high case variety, respiration low AAsc. highest specific superoxide dismutase activity detected variety. Study limitations: results valid without previous applications pulse or hydrating evaluated. Originality: This is first study where behavior Mexican solutions. Conclusions: can use maintain quality longer time vase.

Evaluation of Physiological Responses of Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) to Water Deficit Stress

Water stress is one of the main factors of severe damage and limitation of plant production in Iran. The paper reports a pot experiment conducted by using a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications (each replication composed of four pots) to compare the physiological and biochemical characteristics of two varieties of tuberose (double- and single-flow...

Floriculture in India is estimated to cover an area of 2.55 lakh ha with a production of 17,54,000 MT of loose flowers. Nearly 77 % of the area under floricultural crops is concentrated in seven states comprising Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharastra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Among different states, Tamil Nadu ranks first in area followed by Karnataka, West Bengal and Maharast...

Effect of Nitrogen and Plant Spacing on Nutrients Uptake,Yield and Growth of Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.)

Plant spacing and nitrogen are the most important factors for increasing tuberose quality and quantity. In this study, field experiment carried out as factorial Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) in 3 replications. Different levels of nitrogen (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 kg/ha) of ammonium nitrate was used. Second factor was different plant spaces (10, 15, 20 and 25 cm). Results showed th...
